How to contribute

Whether you are contributing as an individual or on behalf of your employer, Jakarta EE welcomes your participation.

Start by choosing a Jakarta EE project of interest, joining the project's mailing list and start communicating with the team. Next steps depend on whether you're contributing as an individual or via a member organisation.

Colleagues working together

Individual icon If you are an individual contributor:

  1. Create an Eclipse Foundation account
If you don't already have one, sign up at accounts.eclipse.org
  2. Sign the Eclipse Contributor Agreement (ECA)
Log in to your account and digitally sign the ECA, which ensures you retain rights to your contributions while allowing them to be used in the project. Visit the Eclipse Contributor Agreement page to learn more about the agreement.
  3. Get involved in a project
Reach out via mailing lists, Slack, or GitHub to collaborate with project teams and submit contributions.

Organisation icon If you're contributing through a member organisation:

  • Good news, you're already covered!
  • If your employer is a member of the Jakarta EE Working Group, they have signed the Member Committer and Contributor Agreement, which covers all employees.
No additional agreements are needed; you can start contributing directly.
